Empty Eyes
Meet The Skeletones Four, four talented Toronto-based gentlemen whose name has been on the rise as of late. Back in 2009, songwriter Andrew Collins launched the act from a decade’s worth of solo material, cobbled together under the excellent title AAAAAHHH!!!. Since then, he’s recruited long-time friends Evan Gordon, Jordan Howard, and John Merritt to round out his sounds, and carved a name in the Toronto circuit after opening for the likes of Zeus, Julie Doiron, and By Divine Right.
Last year’s full-band follow-up, Gravestone Rock, affirmed the band’s quirky, punchy nature, punctuating it with off-kilter time signatures and wild harmonies. From that record, Soft Signal is happy to premiere the video for “Empty Eyes,” which translates just about adjective that could be used to describe this band into visual form. Directed by Joseph Pauls, it follows the band through a playfully bloody chucking of hearts around as if they’re water balloons. It’s a little weird and totally awesome, much like the slinking track its set to.
Gravestone Rock is out now on Label Fantastic!. Check out the ventricular mayhem below, and listen to the equally wicked album-track “Sexy Breakfast” while you’re at it.
