Colours

Like so many artists I post about, Young Liars has been sitting just under my radar for some time. A number of months have come and gone since the Vancouver outfit self-released their Homesick Future EP, and while the name “Young Liars” has since seemed to be cropping up often on other blogs I frequent, it wasn’t a name I ever bothered to investigate on my own.

As these things tend to go, it was my own loss, but the band’s now offering up a second chance to get reacquainted, having recently signed to Nettwerk Records and giving Homesick Future the proper label treatment. And what better way to do so than with lead track “Colours,” which the label has been teasing on their Soundcloud page for a few weeks. “Colours” is the kind of track that, no matter how many times you play it, it’s still not enough. It shines with sheer enthusiasm, coming alive in the thick of beat and springboarding off of it, landing amidst a swirling arrangement that’s part electro-pop bliss, part Euro-rock thump.

Homesick Future‘s second release is slated for February 21. Right now, you can grab the “Colours” single off of iTunes, which comes complete with an interpretation by fellow Vancouverite Teen Daze.
