Walking Like Children
You might remember SolarSolar from way back in August, when they released their way-cool video for their way-cool track “I Can’t Find You.” At the time, the Waterloo-based couple only had a modest handful of tracks released and scattered onto the internet, and information about the two was even more scarce. Several months later, info is still just as scarce, but a whole record’s worth of new material is about to see the light of day as the band prepares to release their first proper full-length album early next year.
Pilot won’t be available until the end of February, but the first track has already trickled out via the band’s SoundCloud page. “Walking Like Children” retains the hushed, minimilist electronic tones of SolarSolar’s past work, with Angela Drysdale’s seraphic vocals still floating somewhere high above the arrangement, but more attention is paid to the overall grooviness of it all. A weighty rhythm underpins the entire piece, unflinchingly rigid and painting an almost psuedo-dance vibe for the band that pushes them out of their normally dreamy comfort zone. And it really, really works.
You can grab Pilot when it drops on February 21 by way of Binary Records.
