Soft Signal

One more video to round out your week, this time from longtime Soft Signal favourite Young Galaxy. The band has put out a trio of companion videos to accompany some of the best tracks from Shapeshifting, and is now adding a fourth to the tune of “Phantoms.” This is the first live-action video from the album, but its imagery is just as stark, bold, and vivid as any of the animated entries, following two white-sheeted spectres escaping a darkened city and moving (together) into the sunlight.

The clip was directed by Luke McCutcheon and the band’s own Matthew Shapiro. And unlike the phantoms in their video, the band isn’t ready to disappear before the year is over. You can catch them on their cross-Canada tour playing alongside labelmates Austra, something of a homeland victory-lap for both artists after an exceptionally strong 2011:
