Patch In Your Jeans

Matthew Barber‘s most recent record is self-titled for a reason. Its scope is pulled way back compared to his previous work, so much to the point of leaving Barber bare– it’s him, alone, taking the reigns and (self) producing a document that is the most honest, exposed, and pure version of himself to date.

For the second time this month, Soft Signal is premiering an exclusive performance, and this time it’s Barber stripping things down even further. He recently took his guitar to a cliff in Victoria to deliver an achingly lonesome rendition of the album’s penultimate track, “Patch In Your Jeans.” The footage of Barber performing against a yawning B.C. skyline is juxtaposed with shots from a recent show, painting the image of a man who’s come full-circle in his craft, back to the roots of his career.
