Santa Fe

Beirut’s latest record, The Rip Tide, isn’t out yet, but already its available to purchase and stream digitally. The physical edition is out August 30 through Pompeii Records, and comes in three flavours: a garden-variety CD digipack, a limited edition deluxe CD package in a clothbound, gold foil stamped book, and a limited edition deluxe LP, which is also clothbound and comes with a postcard designed by the band’s own Perrin Cloutier.

“Santa Fe” is the breezy second single from the album, and gives a delicate electronic twist to Beirut’s usual Euro-gypsy anthems.  The global influence is still very much there, but it’s been refined, polished, and scaled back to let Zach Condon’s more playful side show. Like much of The Rip Tide, it demonstrates a restraint where before there was bombast, never becoming overwrought by the usual dense, ethnic arrangements. It might be the most honest and likable version of Beirut yet.
