East Harlem

Alright, so here’s the first new output from Beirut since 2009. “East Harlem” and “Goshen” were sent out into the world late last week via Pompeii Records, and you can click here to grab a 7″ copy of the two tracks, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Here’s the thing with Beirut: Since Zach Condon is pretty much the only Eastern European-flavoured indie-pop musician that I’m aware of, I never really know if what I’m listening to is actually better or worse than anything else he’s done. I know that I’m digging “East Harlem,” but no more or less than I dug the songs on The Flying Club Cup. It’s not really a standout in the greater Beirut catalog, except for where it might be? I’m not really sure. You can grab the track below and decide for yourself.
