Someone Somewhere

It’s no secret that I love heavy, shoegazing music. That’s probably the reason I found myself drawn to Waiting For The Rain To Fall, the first full-length by Under Electric Light (AKA Danny Provencher) when it appeared in my inbox. Provencher marries heavenly dream-pop with a sort of late-80s instrumentation, resulting in a swirling, airy electro-pop haze.
“Someone Somewhere” sounds like the product of Slowdive and New Order meeting up in a liqueur factory. Reverbed vocals float wistfully above an endless synth loop, while a droning guitar lays low in the mix, pushing the entire track up towards the stratosphere. Provencher gives a lot of thought to structure and pacing, so by the time the song hits its close, the crescendo has sent the whole thing soaring.
You can pick up Waiting For The Rain To Fall through the Under Electric Light Bandcamp page, or the usual digital merchants.
