Soft Signal

I’ve been lucky enough to have been spinning to the new Handsome Furs record, Sound Kapital, for a couple weeks now, but other than “What About Us,” I haven’t been able to share much else from it.

Until now. Last week, the band released the second track from Sound Kapital, “Repatriated,” which has found a place as one of my favourite Handsome Furs tracks ever, and easily one of the best on the disc. This is a band that has always been looking skyward, but the production of “Repatriated” give them the push needed to get there. Short-circuited riffs of guitar and synth hide within each other like nesting dolls, slowly revealing themselves over the course of four minutes. By the time the track reaches a close, the band is firing on cylinders.
